What is "Quest" at Louisburg?
"Quest" is a class that is designed for High School students grades 9-12 or Middle School students grades 6-8 with a gifted IEP. In addition to working toward individual educational goals in an independent study manner, students will reflect on the nature of knowledge and on how we know what we claim to know. This course will promote higher-level thinking and foster critical thinking in students through various student-centered activities and projects. Students can enroll in each semester all four years of high school. The goal of Quest is to provide an individualized environment for students to collaborate with other gifted peers, focus on individual needs, complete independent study projects, and receive academic and affective support. Quest is a great option for students who want to spend in-school time exploring an independent interest, preparing for post-high school opportunities, taking online/extension learning courses, or learning more about themselves as a learner. |
The Quest class is designed to be a support for what gifted students need, so it may look different for every student enrolled. Gifted students will be working on various Independent Research Projects based on their own personal goals.

Students are expected to expand their learning and perform at high levels while taking risks and contributing to their field of interest or community in some way. The QUEST teacher will also prepare lessons to target areas of need (determined by survey or self-identification) for individual students as well as groups of students. |
